In Rosy-Fingered Dawn, I use a broad mix of materials, including craft supplies such as plastic flowers and cotton balls to mock traditional ideas of high art and to magnify dark truths about our relationship with the environment.
Kitchen is a continuation of the House on Fire. I wanted to explore how the trauma of the experiments affected her in the domesticated household space. Before the experiments, my grandmother loved to cook. Afterwards, it became very difficult. She never stopped trying though. I don’t know if she felt it was her duty as a woman or if she was determined to act out a normal life. Either way, I view it as heroic.Kitchen, is a video installation with many videos playing simultaneously.
