During 2009, I was invited by the Farm Foundation to participate in a new program where a group of artists, activists and scientists traveled to the Arctic Circle for 21 days and made work about the experience. The photographs I took here became the basis for Arctic Wonderland. I manipulated the images by etching, painting, sanding, and drawing on them, creating celebratory scenes that ironically contrasted the haunting, desolate landscapes of the arctic. Though this, I was able to point out their natural beauty and bring to attention the concerns global warming has on this environment.
